Hillcrest Guest House History Hillcrest is one of the oldest romantic and established small hotels, B & B's on St. John. The land was bought in the 1940's and the vacation rental accommodation was started in 1966 by the Hall Family. The originator, Ethlyn Hall is 95 years old and now living in Florida with my sister Elsa. Overlooking pristine Cruz Bay, St. John, also known as Love City. Boats, yachts, sunsets and sunrises can be seen from here. Similiar to a bed and breakfast, in that the complimentary menu, includes breakfast items, snacks, drinks and liquor. Complimentary DVD movies are on site. Description of Area You can walk to Cruz Bay; only 4 minutes to downtown, where the restaurants, stores, banks with ATM machines, taxis, tennis court,bars and churches are located. The ocean can be seen all around from each suite on the top floor (Front, Caribbean Ocean Vew, Sunset and Tropical Garden Suites) and Lounge Area. Music played at the beach bar on Sundays can be heard, if you listen closely. The accommodations are secure, a gated entrance for guest only. Dogs nor cat are not allowed in or near guest area. I have 4 dogs and 1 cat on site; Gigi, Taj Mahal, known as "Taj", Dora, the explorer; and her sister Jada. My siamese cat is named Yum-Yum. We live on the second floor and the rooms with the views are upstairs. There are six (6) suites; four (4) on the top or second floor (1. Front, 2. Caribbean Ocean View, 3. Sunset and 4. Tropical Garden Suites), one (1) at street level (Orchid Suite) and one (1) on the ground floor (Peaceful Retreat) . Suites have 1500 Thread Count Egyptian Quality Sheets, from Amazon. Unforgetable Accommodations in Cruz Bay, St. John: The top floor, Four [4] vacation rental suites are available with ocean views and free Wi-Fi for all suites. Cookbooks from chefs from the Food Network are in each suite, ie. Emeril Lagasse, Paula Deen, Giada De Laurentiis, Rachael Ray and the Barefoot Contessa. The speed limit in town (Cruz Bay, St. John) is 10 mph and out of town is 20 mph. We drive on the left hand side of the road and there are no traffic lights. The currency is the U.S. Dollar and English is spoken here, since we are a United States Territory. The U.S. Virgin Islands tropical plants in the garden include, Flamboyant, Bougainvilleas flowers, Jasmine, Gardenia , Ginger Thomas, Hibiscus and fragrant Frangipani blossoms is in the playground for my dogs. The garden also has an Amish Gazebo which can be seen from the Lounge. Boyson, Inc. was created by Captain Noel Boynes, Sr., his wife and children in 1973. With the hopes of providing better service for our islands Captain Boynes and his family decided to “Bridge the Gap” between the islands. Over the years the company has grown tremendously and was able to acquire a total of 13 vessels throughout its operations. Currently, the company has 5 vessels in service |
